How is the FIRE number calculated?▾
Your FIRE number is typically 25 times your annual expenses, based on the 4% safe withdrawal rate from the Trinity Study. This calculator lets you adjust the withdrawal rate to match your risk tolerance.
What savings rate do I need for FIRE?▾
The higher your savings rate, the faster you reach FIRE. At a 50% savings rate, you can reach financial independence in roughly 17 years. At 70%, it drops to about 8-9 years.
