Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate how much concrete I need?▾
Measure the length, width, and depth (or diameter and height for columns) of your project in feet or meters. This calculator computes the volume in cubic feet, cubic yards, and cubic meters, then estimates the number of pre-mixed bags needed.
How many bags of concrete are in a cubic yard?▾
It depends on the bag size. A cubic yard requires approximately 91 bags of 40 lb concrete, 59 bags of 60 lb concrete, or 46 bags of 80 lb concrete.
What waste factor should I use for concrete?▾
A 10% waste factor is standard for most projects to account for spillage, uneven surfaces, and over-excavation. For complex shapes or rough ground, consider 15-20%.
What is the difference between a slab, footing, and wall?▾
A slab is a flat horizontal surface like a patio or driveway. A footing is a below-grade foundation that supports a structure. A wall is a vertical pour for retaining walls or foundation walls. Each uses the same concrete but different dimensions.
